Empty Dialog boxes in EE4. How to resolve?

I’m seeing empty dialog boxes show up, both when there are errors in the registration form and on successful registration/payment.

On the registration form, the fields are highlighted correctly … but the dialog window that pops up shows a red border around nothing but an X. The dialog that shows up upon successful registration is empty as well except with a green border.

Thanks – wg

Hi,

Those should have some content appearing. Could you temporarily deactivate all plugins and re-test?

If it then appears, then reactivate your plugins a few at a time to locate the source of the conflict.

The problem has to do with the <p> tags in espresso-ajax-notices.template.php … they are getting stripped out (probably by the theme or another plugin).

If I replace the <p> tags with <div> tags all works fine.

My question now is: How can I update espresso-ajax-notices.template.php so that it uses <div> tags AND will not get overwritten with updates? I tried sticking it in my child theme root directory but it didn’t get picked up.

Thanks – wg

That is a core file. It can’t be relocated to another location at this time. Did you try testing again with only Event Espresso running and then reactivating a few plugins at a time?

Yes, the problem is the Timely All In One Calendar … which I cannot remove.

This can be fixed by updated the espresso-ajax-notices.template.php and making the p tags divs. BUT, it will get overwritten with every update.

Advice?

Thanks – wg

Hi,

Is your timely plugin up to date? Is EE up to date? I installed the free version of timely with the latest EE4 and could not recreate this issue.

Regarding the changes to that file, as Lorenzo points out, it’s a core file and can only be amended by manually editing the file, there is no way to store those changes after an update.
