When I click the link created by either of the above shortcodes, I get an error. The payment_url gives:

Hi David,
Is this happening with all recent emails that you have looked at? For example, if the attendee/registrant has been removed then you may see this error.
Also, are the pages loading and then showing these php warnings?

Yes, it appears to work for another attendee, so it is likely from a removed attendee.

Hi David, thanks for the checking into it.
Could you confirm by checking one more attendee/registrant?
Also, could you adjust WP debug in your wpconfig.php file so its set to false:
