What emails should be notified when a registration occurs? From my testing it appears that WP admin and user receive notification, but primary contact email within EE Settings does not. Is this by design?

Hi there,

By default the Emails are sent to the Event Admin (the user account set as the event author, usually the user that created the account).

However you can change all of the emails to use the primary contact email address set within Event Espresso -> General Settings -> Your Organization.

You’ll need to change the ‘Event Admin’ context for all message templates (by default at least Registration Approved and Registration Pending Payment message templates)

Edit the event admin context and change the ‘TO’ field from [EVENT_AUTHOR_FORMATTED_EMAIL] to [CO_EMAIL]

For example here’s the Reg Approved message – http://take.ms/jVtlP

Changed to send to the Co Email – http://take.ms/zYPSM

The difference with _FORMATTED shortcodes is that the email will show the company name, eg. Mr Example <example@example.com>, where as non formatted emails just use the email address.

Thanks for the explanation, but the description underneath the Primary Contact Email field in Event Espresso –> Settings says this:

“This is where all notifications will go to by default so please make sure it is correct.”
https://www.evernote.com/l/ATfdW0EVPplMLYKaMF1RvfCPtCHSfxEQmnw

This has cost me and my client several man days in troubleshooting DNS, ISP, Exchange, spam filtering, etc. and has made them question choosing EE as an Events module.

Either the description beneath the field is wrong or the templates are improperly configured by default.

I’m sorry for the confusion and have created a ticket to have the description for that field updated.

Hi Tony – thank you for clarifying. Appreciate EE acknowledging and addressing.

You’re most welcome.

The next version of EE will have some updated text to clarify that email is used by the CO_EMAIL shortcodes.

Have a great weekend 🙂
