I have been trying to update from 4.1.1.reg to 4.1.3. When I go to the plugin update page (Plugins > Update Available), I see Event Espresso 4 with the message:
I have been to the organization settings page and inserted the same ‘Site License Key’ I had from EE3. This has been accepted, but the same message is still showing. When I try to update to the newer version of EE4 I get the following:
Do I need to reset my Site License Key for EE4, or is there another issue at play? |
|
As long as the key is used on the same domain, it shouldn’t make a difference if it was used on a 3.X install before. I’ll go ahead and reset it, though, and we’ll see if it makes a difference. If you continue to have trouble with it, let us know, and we’ll get the developer involved. |

Thanks for resetting the key, I have installed it, but now there is no option to update the plugin. WordPress shows that all plugins are up-to-date, and that Event Espresso 4.1.1 is the latest version. Please advise what I should do to fix this please. |
Hi Bjorn, Please try re-saving the license key from the Your Organization page to try and force it to check for another update. If that doesn’t work we might have to look deeper for conflicts with plugins or something. |

I deleted the key, the update is now available but the support key is no longer valid. Please reset my key or if you require me to go through the reset key process let me know and I will do this. Thanks for your quick replies! 🙂 |

Please note: I tried saving it first, no change, then deleted it, saved then re-added, the plugin update is now available but the key is no longer valid. |
Hi Bjorn, I have reset your license once more. Please go to Event Espresso -> General Settings. Remove the key (cut), save the settings, replace the key (paste), then save the settings once more. You need to remove the key and re-save whilst the key is not active to clear any errors you currently have, so please do not re-save before following the instructions as this will re-assign your key once again (preventing the error from being removed) Please let us know if you still have issues 🙂 |

Hi, I followed your instructions, I removed the key, saved. It came up with the message asking for the key. I then copied the key again, saved. I still get the message

Hi Bjorn, Very strange! I’m sorry for the trouble you a currently having. Would you mind updating manually? Download the latest version of EE4 from your account page, delete the currently installed EE4 plugin and install the latest version you would have just downloaded. We have a guide posted here (you can ignore the step reg. templates within uploads/espresso/): https://eventespresso.com/wiki/updating-event-espresso/ Once installed, go to your Organisation Setting and hit Save. Then check if the error still appears. If it does I’ll assign you a new License key to use. |
|
I will also reset your license key once more, it will be reassigned once you follow the final step above and should hopefully resolve the issue once and for all 🙂 |

Thanks for this, I manually reinstalled the plugin (was getting errors when I installed it through WordPress). My previous 2 events still have the error
I assume that I should delete these two events and start over? |
Is that error appearing using the latest version of Event Espresso 4? (currently 4.1.4)
May I ask which errors? |
|
|
Yes, the errors are still appearing using 4.1.4, but I have made a new event that seems to be going fine now. I thought maybe it had to do with me changing the name and amount of the default tax from Federal Tax to GST and from 15 to 10%? But I’m not sure. The error that was coming up when trying to install it was that it could not copy /event-espresso/core/EE_Registry.core.php (not 100% sure it was the Registry core file, as it was on my other computer at home, but it was definitely a core file that wouldn’t copy). I thought this might be to do with permissions, but I have installed other plugins and they have been fine. I manually deleted the old event-espresso and then manually installed it. It all seems to be working fine now. I have another issue with multiple registrations but I will start a new thread. |

You can resolve this thread if you wish as my problems regarding this are solved in my view. |
