Hi,
My client has installed EE4 as their go to for event registration. The only plug in that was brought to my attention was that they needed the calendar and nothing else. So I convinced them to use EE4, as it seemed like it had more features, more up to date codebase and better represented on your site.
After installation and a few registrations they brought to my attention that they would like to use promotion codes as well so they can give 10% off to family/friends. I figured that was easy, since it was built into EE3; but apparently I was wrong, as it’s not built into EE4.
I see multiple threads on here saying that the promo addon is ‘in development’ but have yet to see a date for when it might be released. Best I’ve seen is ‘Early 2015’.
So my questions are:
Are there any updates to this?
Is there anyway I can do a simple discount hardcoded without hacking the plugin too badly, while waiting for this to be released?
Is there anyway to go back to EE3 while keeping my data (registrations, transactions, events) intact?
Do you have some suggestions on how I will accomplish this until I can get my hands on the actual addon?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The current software does not support discounting tickets but this workaround may be helpful for your project:

Moving back to Event Espresso 3 won’t work as expected as the information is stored in different database tables. It would be similar to starting new.

Starting today, current support license holders can opt in to the pre-release channel and download the Event Espresso 4.7 and Promotion add-on pre-releases.
We’d love to get your feedback on some of the new promotion features and changes that we’ve been working on. These include:
- New interface for managing promocodes
- Promo code discounts now apply to entire order instead of per ticket
- Promo code generator
- Automatic (non-promo-code) discounts
- Discounts limited by quantity
- Discounts limited by start date and end date
- A widget for displaying non-promo-code discounts
- A shortcode for displaying non-promo-code discounts
Important: The Event Espresso 4 promotions add-on will activate only if Event Espresso 4.7 is active. This means you’ll need to install the Event Espresso 4.7 pre-release before installing the promotions add-on.
If you haven’t already opted into Event Espresso’s pre-release channel, you can go to your account page and check the box to opt in to the pre-release channel. Once you opt in, the download files will be available under the EE4 tab under the Pre Release Downloads heading.
