Our event is a week of 60 classes in 5 locations that start/stop and sometimes overlap. Last year we had 600 registered attendees. I’ve look at the support forum and find no clear help/method to address EE4’s problem that allows duplicate and/or schedule conflict registrations for an event. Please EE Team, issue some concise guidance to fix this problem.

You can set the potentially conflicting events to have a Default Registration status to Not Approved. This way, if they’ve selected events that will conflict, you can refrain from approving the conflicting registrations.

Alternatively, if the default registration status is set to Pending Payment or even Approved, you can retroactively flag the conflicting registrations to “Set Registrations to Not Approved and Notify”. The Not Approved message type can include a message that explains why the Registration(s) were not approved.

EE4 allows people to register for schedule conflicting events or register multiple times for the same event! Our event is a workshop/conference with 5 days and 6 locations and 60 classes/seminars. We had 600 registered attendees last year. What is the mitigation or corrective action for this flaw in EE4? It will be impossible to manage this large of an event with EE4 allowing people to register for schedule conflicting classes and/or registering for the same class multiple times. HELP!

Thanks Josh. But I’m not sure that will work. With 60 classes in a 5 day period, essentially every class will conflict with another class (Actually only one will not). So, every class would be set to “approve.” This means our registration staff will need to matrix 600 registrations against the ~60 classes… It sounds scary to me and our registration staff will want to burn me at the stake… Can you provide more detail? Will EE4 alert the registration staff on the schedule conflicts so they know why not to approve it???

Currently Event Espresso does not prevent users from registrations onto any of your available tickets, nor will it alert registration staff of ‘conflicting’ registrations. There are valid uses cases in which users will register onto multiple tickets/datetimes, any of which may or may not overlap so we do not restrict any registrations at this time.

This means that if you set your events to ‘Not Approved’ then the staff would need to check if the registrations conflicted themselves. As restricting registrations is not something EE currently supports and has no functionality built in to prevent this it would require custom development to prevent this from happening.

If preventing conflicting registrations from occurring is vital for your events I would recommend contacting a developer to add this functionality for you.

We have a list of developers familiar with EE here:
