I have a 2 major issues with EE4 that I need to fix quickly.

1) I have 2 tickets for sale for the same event. After selecting one of the two tickets. If I choose Paypal as a payment method, the wheel keeps turning but the customer is never sent to PayPal.

https://www.evernote.com/shard/s54/sh/b1848520-179b-44b4-9f2a-53f9a0706277/8e9018fd229135fe3de2de1a1d768a70/deep/0/Event-Registration—RMC-Alumni.png

Even though the transaction is not processed and that I’m stucked on the page. The registration information (name, email, etc.) still goes through to EE. However, it seems to be doing that only with 1 or the 2 tickets.

2) If I choose the other ticket and pay through Paypal I have a situation where a customer purchased a ticket via Paypal. I received a Paypal notification of payment received but the Transaction report in EE4 shows the transaction status as Failed.

Everything used to work very well and around October 15th I started getting all the Failed Transactions.

I’ve looked at the instructions on how to setp PayPal IPN here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-set-up-paypal-ipn/#troubleshooting
The Notification URL in Paypal is set to another account but I can’t change it as it corresponds to my Client’s online store. However, as I mentioned, everything used to work great until about 2 weeks ago and the Notification URL wasn’t changed.

Furthermore, I checked in Paypal and the information is being sent to Paypal as per the example below
https://www.evernote.com/shard/s54/sh/8941fe60-c0a8-46b3-8c01-facb2f5b0637/1e26c27dc67cce1ed6cba76dbad91491/deep/0/Instant-Payment-Notification-(IPN)-details—PayPal.png

I’ve read all the related threads and here’s what I’ve tried.

1) I’m using a Business PayPal Account

2) The 4 pages and shortcodes under General Settings / Critical Pages are working and on a public page.

3) There’s no caching plugin on the website

4) I tried deactivating all the plugins on the site except Event Espresso.

5) I removed all special characters from the tickets and the only special character remaining is a –

6) The “Use the Debugging Feature and the PayPal Sandbox” is off in Payment Methods.

7) I only have check and PayPal for Payment Methods

8) I tried checking the logs here: /wp-content/uploads/espresso/logs but the files haven’t been updated since May (and there have been transactions since then)

What can I do to fix both problems?

Hi,

Are you on the latest software and do any of your event names have special characters in them (event name + ticket name is sent to PayPal)?

Yes I have the latest versions:

WordPress Version:
4.0
PHP Version:
5.4.34
MySQL Version:
5.5.37
Event Espresso Version:
4.4.4.p

I removed all special characters from the tickets and the only special character remaining is a –

Ok I removed the – from both tickets and at least now I’m being redirected to PayPal. However, I still have the same problem that as soon as I’m being redirected to PayPal the registration information (name, email, etc.) still goes through to EE event though the transaction hasn’t been completed.

And still the same problem with the Failed transactions.

Hi,

Could you create an event called test with a ticket of $1 and then email that event URL here:

It seems to have been because of the -. It resolved the issue by removing it from the ticket’s name.

Hi JP,

I ran some testing on this with the latest version of Event Espresso 4 and could not duplicate in the issue. I tested with the following characters in the event and ticket name (both are sent to PayPal):

– ” ‘ /

Each time the IPN updated the transaction in the background and marked the event as paid.

We’ll keep an eye out to see if there are any other reports that come through.

Thanks again for testing this out.
