The EE4 Event pagination does not function for a site we’re developing. There are 3 events which need to be displayed separately and the shortcode used is [ESPRESSO_EVENTS title=” ” category_slug=”wedding-show” limit=”1″ ] The page displays the 1st event with “1 2 3 NEXT ›” below, so it recognizes 3 events exist and needs to paginate. However clicking on the links do not display the next event. The URL changes from http://intimatebridalshows.com/ibs/ to http://intimatebridalshows.com/ibs/page/2/ but the same event displays. Any suggestions? We’re running WP 4.0 and EE 4.4.1.p. Thanks.

Hi,

Could you re-test this with the current version of Event Espresso at 4.4.4?

I updated the plugin and it still behaves the same.

Hi Steve,

I tested the shortcode you are using (with a category relevant to my events) and found now issue.

Can you try switching your theme to one of the default themes such as TwentyFourteen and retesting please? You can do this without actually switching themes using a plugins such as Theme Test Drive

Tony, I switched the theme to the standard TwentyFourteen theme and the pagination behavior is still not working properly. The theme we’re using is Lounge (child theme) and the only plugins are EE4, EE4 – Calendar, Contact Form 7, and Revolution Slider, all are up to date.

I you go to this completely random page number (without using the EE ‘Next’ link) http://intimatebridalshows.com/ibs/page/458/

The exact same page will load, meaning this is an issue with the theme.

On TwentyFourteen if you do the same you’ll see something like this http://take.ms/RIGzW

When you say you are using a child theme, have you also copied the EE template files to the theme?

Tony, I enabled the TwentyFourteen theme and tried the Next (and 2 & 3) links and it did not work, so I don’t think it is related to a theme that is not enabled. The child theme folder only contains three files (screenshot, styles.css & functions.php). There are no EE template files in the parent theme folder (Lounge) nor in the child theme folder. I have left the TwentyFourteen theme enabled for now and tried a random page number and it behaves the same as if the Lounge child theme is enabled. Check it out.

That’s strange, doing the same on a test install works fine.

You can re-enable your theme now if you prefer, I’ll need to do a little further digging to try and reproduce.

OK, will do. Thanks Tony.

Any progress on resolving the problem on http://intimatebridalshows.com/ibs? Thanks.

Hi,

Can you temporarily drop the shortcode on a WordPress page and let us know if the pagination works as expected?

That looks like it could be a widget area but I’m not familiar with this theme so I’m not sure.

Lorenzo,

I setup a test page (testing) and copied all the code from the home page (Home IBS) over and pagination on the new test page functioned ok. Then I changed the ‘Reading’ setting for the site to use Testing as the static home page instead of ‘Home IBS’, and pagination no longer worked on the Testing page. So it seem the EE4 plugin pagination works unless it’s on the static home page. Any ideas?

Hi Steve,

Thank you for troubleshooting this, I can confirm the same behaviour locally so I have created a ticket for our developers to investigate this.

Hi,

This is still scheduled for review by the development team. We will update this support post once a fix is available. Until then, you could show additional events or use some CSS to hide the pagination option.
