Hi –

I have a few general questions:

1) How can I turn off the invoice option upon reservation scheduling and payment? Since payment must be made at the time of making the reservation, we don’t need client to A) reserve a spot B) receive invoice and C) pay later.

2) How can credit card logos appear along side the PayPal logo? The Paypal logo can stay, as long as Mastercard, Visa, etc appear as well. My concern is if only Paypal logo appears, customer not familiar with PayPal might stop and not proceed with the booking, not realizing that once they click to make the payment, they will be taken to PayPal but will then notice an option to pay there with a credit card.

3) I see that in the backend of WordPress, once logged in, at the top is a quick link to EventEspresso > registrations to view current registration. But since client and developer (myself) should only have login access, can employees log in remotely another way in order to view registrations? Sort of like checking web mail online, can log in remotely from the hosting provider.

Thank you!

Howard

Hi Howard,

1) How can I turn off the invoice option upon reservation scheduling and payment? Since payment must be made at the time of making the reservation, we don’t need client to A) reserve a spot B) receive invoice and C) pay later.

If you go to Event Espresso -> Payment Methods.

You can completely de-active the Invoice payment method from there, although what I would recommend doing it opening the Invoice settings (click Invoice at the top of that section)

Within each payment method is a ‘Usable from’ setting – http://take.ms/Y1TYq

If you un-check the ‘Front-end Registration Page’ checkbox then users will not be able to select invoice during registration.

Within the PayPal Standard payment method (same section as above) you will find a ‘Button URL’ field. That field allows you to set the image that will be used for the payment method button.

You’ll notice the default button is just PayPal. You can change that to any image you prefer, we have an alternative here:

http://ee-screenshots.s3.amazonaws.com/2015/07/paypal-logo.png

You can either download that an use it from within your site or just add that URL within the field and save the settings.

No, there are no front end registrations lists built into Event Espresso.

However EE has its own capabilities system built directly into core:

https://eventespresso.com/2015/03/announcing-the-capabilities-system-in-event-espresso-4/

This means you can give users certain capabilities within WordPress to view certain sections within the admin. So you could create a role that only has access to view the registrations within EE, but no other settings within your WordPress dashboard.

Would that work?

Hi, Tony

Thank you very much for the excellent advice and instructions!! I made the edits as you mentioned and am awaiting client approval on the changes. the 3rd answer is fine as well. Great advice.

One other question – when viewing the event registration page – can I change the “template” the registration page is displaying on? I don’t want the right hand column displaying “Recent Posts”, “Archives”, etc to appear. Either on a blank template or one I can customize the side bar.

Thanks again!!

Howard

You’re most welcome 🙂

Can you link me to the page you are referring to please? I just want to confirm I give you the correct instructions.

Its likely the page containing the [ESPRESSO_CHECKOUT] shortcode, which is a standard page and you can assign a template to that page as you would any other – http://take.ms/RXSzC

That will allow you to create a custom template and set it there.

The page i am referencing, after clicking on an event on the calendar, is this one: http://www.hotpots.net/testsite/events/movie-night/
Screen capture: http://www.howcreativedesign.com/event-page.png

Where can i find the section you referenced in your screen capture image? Yes I believe that is what I am looking for.

Regarding the Invoicing issue from earlier – when proceeding to registration checkout, the client wants the Invoice option completely removed so there is only one way to pay – by paypal via credit card or paypal acct.

Thanks again for your help!!

Hi Howard,

You can go to WP-admin (WP dashboard) –> Pages and then look for the registration checkout page and click it. Then in the pages editor look for a layout option that may say full width or no sidebar. If you select one of those, then it will remove the sidebar so it is a full-width page.

Next, you can deactivate the Invoice payment method through Event Espresso –> Payment Methods –> Invoice. Then scroll towards the end of the page and click on the deactivate payment method button.

You may also find our quick start guide for Event Espresso 4 helpful:

Hi –

I am having issues trying to assign roles to a new user, in order to allow an employee access ONLY to the Event Espresso registration area. I received this post at the top:

No, there are no front end registrations lists built into Event Espresso.
However EE has its own capabilities system built directly into core:
https://eventespresso.com/2015/03/announcing-the-capabilities-system-in-event-espresso-4/
This means you can give users certain capabilities within WordPress to view certain sections within the admin. So you could create a role that only has access to view the registrations within EE, but no other settings within your WordPress dashboard.

I installed your recommended MEMBERS plug-in and created an EventEspresso Only role. But when signing in under the new user, they aren’t granted any access. I chose “accept” for Events and Venues capabilities. Is there something else I need to change?

Thank you,

Howard

Hi Howard,

You’ll need at least these 3 capabilities to view Event Espresso:

ee_read_ee
ee_read_event
ee_read_events

I’m not sure what you mean with ‘accept’ above, however I do have an example plugins that adds 2 roles to your site. ‘Event Organizer’ and ‘Events Manager’.

The ‘Event Organizer’ only has access to their own events and registration messages etc that relate to their events.

The ‘Events Manager’ has full access to Event Espresso, same as an Administrator would.

However both of those roles have no other access to WordPress, they are based on subscriber roles. Take a look here:

http://take.ms/WcoqG

You can then compare those roles with your own to find the capabilities that work best for you, or just use those roles if you prefer.
