Hello. My name is Brett, and I operate the VA Comicon.
We recently used Event Espresso 3 for our 1-day event using the Mobile App solution.
For our November show (our big 2-day event), we were looking at EE4’s barcode solution. We expect 3,000 – 5,000 people.
We use 8-10 mobile devices for check-in, and while I think we can use a barcode solution with our mobile devices, the one thing that is NOT compatible is “View all registrations” link on the barcode scanning screen of EE4…this is the solution if someone forgets their printed ticket.
On mobile devices, the page which allows you to search is improperly formatted, landing off of the screen, and the search field falls at the bottom of the page, rather than at the top.
For fast check-in, is there any way to use the same field used to input the barcode numbers to ALSO be able to search for attendees by NAME? The barcode scan seems to be a perfectly workable solution on mobile devices if we could get this working(or even a second field below it to search by name).

Thanks for taking the time to leave this valuable feedback. It turns out we have a few open tickets on improving the UI of the barcode scanner, as well as a ticket for moving the search field up on the attendee check in list table page.
One improvement that’s been completed and released recently (in version 4.8.8 of Event Espresso core) is some new styles for small screens that work with the mobile admin improvements that were introduced in WordPress 4.3. So when you update to Event Espresso 4.8.8 and check the link for View all registrations you’ll notice the improved layout.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. You are correct: 4.8.8 is a great improvement for mobile device.
Once BIG request, which would practically solve what I am looking for, is to have this “view all registrations” page display the name-search box ABOVE the records on mobile devices (like on desktop devices). In the current version, it is at the bottom of the page, which means you have to scroll all the way down to search for any name.

Hi Brett,
It turns out we do have an open ticket for moving the search field up on the attendee check in list table page. I’ll update this thread once there’s been some progress made on the ticket.

The search field location was moved for mobile views in Event Espresso 4.8.10.p. Now it looks like this.
