Hi, I am working on some customised e-mail templates on EE4. Very nice that now one can customise them all (except the registration pending one that, as reported in another thread, does not seem to exist…)!
However, I have noticed that there are some limitations regarding the fields one is allowed to use on different parts of the e-mail:
– why can’t one use the [Event_Name] in, for instance, the subject or the main content? Indeed EE4 now supports multiple event, tickets, etc… but on the other hand for “simple” events it’s a limitation not being able to write “Dear xx, we are glad to confirm your registration at [EVENT_NAME] or include that in the e-mail subject (as it was on EE3).
– All the [VENUE_….] fields are not in the list of main content, but luckily they work there! [CO_STATE] is there but [CO_COUNTRY] is not in the list, but maybe it works anyway, haven’t tried… anyway, in general we use country in Europe and not state 😉
– In general, I see that each part of the template has a lot of possible fields, some of them I’m not even sure if they’re useful for that specific part (e.g. [CO_PINTEREST_URL] in the subject??)… but wouldn’t be easier to have all fields available in all the parts of the e-mail template? especially the [EVENT_name] and similar ones!
– Suggestion for possible future improvement: I see that some elements refer to a css file (e.g. some element classes). It would be nice being able to edit those too.
One of the reasons we did not include the event name to be used in the subject field is to allow for future compatibility with the Multi Event Registration add-on for Event Espresso 4. So when they register for more than one event, it will just work.
Re: editing the CSS. You can register your own CSS stylesheets for messages by using a filter. There’s some documentation in the developer portal on how to add your own CSS for messages via the WordPress plugin API.
Re: “except the registration pending one that, as reported in another thread, does not seem to exist…)!” I’m not sure what you mean by registration pending. Would that be functionally different than either the Registration Pending Payment or Not Approved Registration messages?
