Hi, I’m trying to customize the EE4 events table to show all start dates for a class we are offering multiple times a year. I have found prior posts for customizing the table in GitHub and after adding the customizations there I get two start date entries for an event but both entries have the first date ie 3/1/15 for start date one and 3/1/15 for start date two when start date two should be 5/14/15.

I have also looked at the use cases for this sort of thing and while I see the end result which is what I want, I must not be doing something correctly.

Either I don’t have the class set up correctly or the table isn’t displaying correctly.

For the class I created two start dates and two tickets, one ticket for each class. Is that Correct for what I want to accomplish in the events table?

What else could be causing this?

I am using EE4.4.8 and events table template 1.3.0 and WP 4.1

Hi, which example did you follow? This one should work:

Hello Lorenzo, that link is one of two that I tried the other being https://gist.github.com/lorenzocaum/6202e12ab276c08fc9dd

The link you suggested did give me two entries for the class but the entries both reflected the first class date. My first effort I created an event (a class offering) with two different start dates but only the first date was displayed. In order to make it work the way i wanted I had to create two separate events, one for each start date.

I’m thinking that there is not a way to create one event and have multiple dates for the event. What I want to do is create one event with a new class each month then allow people to register for any class over the course of the year. that way I don’t have to create separate events for each class date. Then of course I wanted to reflect these individual dates on the event table. When I have everything completed I’ll have about seven different class topics being offered at least 5 to 6 times a year. I would like to avoid building over forty different events just to keep the different classes separated.

Hi Lorenzo,

I hope you got my reply yesterday but if not, I am posting again. I’d like to know what I need to do in order to get multiple class offerings for different dates for the same class to show up in the events table.

thanks
Randy

Hi,

Currently using WP 4.1 EE4 4.4.8 Events Table 1.3

I’m having trouble figuring out why the events table doesn’t display the correct dates for a multiple date event.

I created an event with multiple dates. the event is an exercise class that has sessions starting at different times through the year. Registration can be for one or more of the sessions. there is no cost.

I created the datetimes and ticket as shown here: http://tinyurl.com/kskho27
What I get on the event table is this: http://tinyurl.com/pox98wk

I also tried to use the modification of the event table display by following the instructions of the github post new_gist_file_0.md located at https://gist.github.com/lorenzocaum/ac217033f12232404cce

The result of that modification gave me this: http://tinyurl.com/o2vea5w which shows three registration options and every date is shown for each option.

Am I setting up the datetimes and ticket in the event incorrectly? if so what should I change?

Is there something else I should do to get the event table to display just the dates for each class or am I going to have to create a separate event for each new class start date?

thanks for your help.
Randy

By the way, I should mention that the dates are only one week apart but that was because I was testing various ways to make it work. Once I know how to resolve it I will go back in and correct the dates to start every 6 weeks.

Hi Randy,
Can you update to EE 4.6.6 and Events Table 1.3.2?

Hi Sidney, I had updated earlier this week but it created problems for me because of customizations I had made last year. I had to restore my site to get back what I had so that I could go back and recall what those changes were and where I put them so I could make them again in 4.6.6.

The changes had to do with custom text in various places in the theme I’m using regarding instructions for payments but it created confusion for people who were registering for current events. There were two templates that I had modified too that i will need to make changes for in 4.6.6.

Is there another option for my problem with the events table before upgrading again?

Hi Randy,

The EE4 Events Table template was designed and built to loop through event posts and display one row per post. Changing it to loop through all of the datetimes for all events and ordering them by start will involve rewriting the queries, which are not in the template.

I can suggest a few options:

1) Make an event for each datetime.
or
2) Use Lorenzo’s idea to display all the datetimes for one event in that event’s row. This means replacing the single next upcoming date with a list of dates.

Hi Josh,

Thanks it looks like the only option I have is to create a separate event for each class although that will significantly increase my workload. I’m actually setting up 10 classes and each class will repeat every four to ten weeks so I was hoping to only create one event with different datetimes.

thanks for your help

Hi Randy,

Have you considered using the Calendar to display your events?

Hi Josh,

I do use the calendar on one page to display all the events for our church but this project I’m working on is dedicated to one specific category of events and I needed a columnar display for people to choose from a list of classes.

I’ll make the table work the best I can by creating a new event for every class.
