Hi

I found this post but I wondered if anything had evolved in connection with setting an overall price but then taking a deposit (partial payments). I think this could be useful if EE is to be used where event charges are higher. https://eventespresso.com/topic/multiple-pricing-options-and-deposit-capability/

I was hoping to use EE4 for a client who needs this. With their current system (non-wordpress) the client has to choose the event and whether they are paying the deposit or balance and then checkout online. Do you have any suggestions about how this could work using EE4? I’m keen to use it because EE is working so well on other sites…

Thanks

Hi Nicholas,

We are making progress towards deposits/partial payments but unfortunately that feature is not ready for release at this time.

Currently the only way to allow partial payments is to create a ticket for the full value and then apply payments through the admin. The user would need to select an offline payment method such as invoice, then send the smaller fund amounts to the event admin. Those partial payments can be offline (cash, check, EFT, etc) or online payments such as through Paypal (using the ‘send money’ feature), however the online payments would not automatically integrate with Event Espresso, the event admin would still need to apply that payment manually within the admin.

Each payment applied to the transaction will change the amount owing for the registration, so the final payment can be made through the official payment gateways and finalize the registration. However we do realise this is not ideal and are working on including partial payments within a future version of Event Espresso.

Hi Tony

Thanks for the reply. I might be able to find a workaround by creating separate deposit and final payment ‘tickets’ per event. The number of attendees per event isn’t so high that this would make the admin too difficult and it would still allow online payments

Hopefully the partial payments feature isn’t too far away.

Just to note about that work around.

Just to make sure your aware, currently you can not switch be attendees between different tickets. So the attendee (or the admin) would need to register the attendee onto the deposit ticket, then re-register onto the remainder ticket when they want to pay that, does that make sense?

Partial payments (although in theory sound fairly simple) actually complicate matters fairly significantly. The developers have been working through various aspects of Event Espresso to allow for this. I can’t give you a deadline as to when this will be released however I can say we will include this feature as soon as we possibly can do 🙂

I think the user would need to register twice to get it to work. I have found some other potential solutions that sit on WooCommerce, they are simply booking plugins and another payment deposit plugin. I understand that it can’t be easy to implement because it involves keeping track of the initial payment and then the pending payment.

Hi Nicholas,

I took another look at this and created two tutorials for handling partial payments or deposits + final payment in Event Espresso 4.

This process is not completely automated but it is possible to do in the current version of Event Espresso 4.

You can view the ideas here:

Nicholas,

I’m sorry to bother you on this topic but this is the only way I can get a hold of you as I can’t pm you.

I was interested in this topic and you said you solved it: https://eventespresso.com/topic/populating-the-calendar-with-public-holidays/

Could you explain me how please?
