The planned approach will be useful to return tickets to inventory if the Payment is not processed within the specified time. I otice Eventbrite and others are starting to use Timers. THX.,
The timer that prevents selling is part of the new ticket reservation system that was merged into Event Espresso core a few versions back. So the current version of EE4 has this.
The timer works using the filters you suggested. But I’m not sure how the inventory is managed. When I go to Reserve Now for Personal Information I assume the Registered Count is not changed. When I go to Proceed to Payment Options I assume the Registered Count is incremented. If I don’t complete the payment in time will the Registered Count be decremented or will it be Pending Payment?

Those are incorrect assumptions. The ticket reserved count is incremented the moment that the ticket selector quantities are submitted.

Both will happen. The registration count will be decremented and the registration status will be pending payment.
