EE4 Changing the sort of ticket bought

Someone who’s booked has gone ‘oh, I booked the wrong type of ticket’.

If I look at their registration, it looks like you can change everything about someone, including editing their contact details and registration form answers, except what sort of ticket they’ve bought.

Or is there a way to do that via EE?

If I were sufficiently brave and/or stupid, it looks like I could attempt to do it via editing the database directly – looking at the esp_ticket table to see what the right TKT_ID is, then going to the esp_registration table and changing the TKT_ID of the right registration.

I’m probably not, but I can’t believe we’re the only event who gets snowflakes like this booking the wrong ticket… so does everyone have to cancel the erroneous booking and get them to rebook?

Hi Ian,

Currently yes, the only way to do this is to cancel the original registration and re-book the user onto the correct ticket.

The Event Admin (yourself) could do this through the admin using the same registration details and manually applying the payment if you prefer not to request they do it themselves.

I would highly discourage editing the database correctly, it is not only the TKT_ID that is stored, but ‘line items’ are created for the Invoices, price calculations and much more. A single ticket registration has many values that need to be updated when changing this.

Ah, some searching shows that we’re not the only ones this happens to, and suggests that you can create a new registration for them… completely manually, with no ability to simply say ‘copy these details to a new registration’.

I see that as less useful than just cancelling and telling them to get it right next time.

Yes, I thought it would be silly to edit the database…

No, I prefer telling them to do it 🙂 but this has to be common enough that I am a bit surprised you can’t change the ticket type the way you can change everything else about their booking.
