I’ve noticed that with the last few maintenance releases, the software has been released and the changelog hasn’t been updated to reflect what’s been added/changed.

It would really be appreciated if these two events could occur simultaneously so I have an idea of what I might be getting myself into by upgrading the EE plugin.

Thanks for the feedback Paul. We’ll try harder next time to get those out within minutes of the release instead of few hours later.

If you want up to the minute details about what’s been changed at any point, you can always check the commit log on Github which always reflects the latest changes:

Thanks.

Is it at all possible to have the link from WordPress for checking on what’s new in an update to return information instead of it returning the following (An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.)?

Do you mean this?

https://www.evernote.com/shard/s4/sh/bdca6ed5-6eac-4e53-8fd2-52e6c893ffc3/2c344ea566629d2eaa5a15279cf0712d

If so, and you see the same error over and over, it’s likely due to something set up in your WP settings or your server that’s breaking the request. It can be something as simple as the site URL being left blank in Settings -> General.

There are some tips on how to troubleshoot this error in the wordpress.org forums:

Josh,

This problem has existed for months and it only seems to effect the EventEspresso installs.

I just switched to WP_Engine for my hosting and the problem has persisted.

All the obvious stuff pointed out in the articles you referenced doesn’t apply.

Any other ideas?

I can check my WPEngine install, but while I do that, can you please confirm we’re on the same page? Please take a look a this screenshot:

Does the above screenshot show the box on the plugins page that you’re referring to, or is it something else?

I don’t even get that far.

As soon as I click on View version 4.8.7.p details I get the box on the screen with just this text in it:

An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.

I just checked again, and it is only happening on the EE plugins.

That may be caused by another plugin or theme function overriding something that Event Espresso’s update engine sets earlier. I checked my WPEngine site that has Event Espresso plugins installed and the View version 4.8.7.p details link works as expected. I can check with the developer who wrote the plugin update engine to see if there’s something more specific that can be checked, but for now I’d say that a good place to check is the active WP theme or any plugin that doesn’t use wordpress.org for updates (similar to how EE works, the updates do not come from wordpress.org). You can even try deactivating them on your testing site if you’ve set up your testing site on WPEngine.

Love having the staging site at WP_Engine.

The problem is the LMS Learndash plugin. With it activated, I get problems, not activated, no issues. Not sure where to turn to for help.

In this case, you contact Learndash support.
