I’m transitioning from EE3 to EE4. Please tell me where to locate simple-to-understand instructions on how to format and automate responses to those who have signed up for a class.

Hi John,

Here’s one article from our documentation that will walk you through how to edit the default messages:

Hi Josh,

I dropped the ball on this over the holidays, but now I’m back. I read the article you sent, yet it didn’t help with what I’m trying to do. Luckily, I was able to find the my EE3 letter in a forum I started back when I was still in the just-thinking-about-upgrading to EE4 mode. The forum heading was “Preparations Before Updating EE3 to EE4.” While that particular forum covered many subjects, the relevant info was covered on Sept. 22. Here’s a link to it:

This is essentially the information I want sent out when someone signs up for a class, even before payment is received:

Thank you, [FNAME], for choosing CPR-Twin Cities to provide you with your American Red Cross training.

Your [event] class will be held at Highland Yoga Center, located at:

[VENUE_ADDRESS]

The yoga studio is in a tiny strip mall on the corner of Cleveland Ave. and Villard Ave., in the Highland Park neighborhood of St. Paul. If approaching from Ford Pkwy., be sure to stay to the right on Cleveland Ave. (when St. Paul Ave. branches off to the left). You may park in the lot in front (but please do not park in the spots directly in front of the other businesses, as them need space for their own customers). If the lot if full, there is plenty of street parking. To see a Google map of the class location, click on this link:

[GOOGLE_MAP_LINK]

Class begins promptly at [START_TIME] on [START_DATE] and will end at approximately [END_TIME]. Please plan on arriving about 10 minutes early, so we can start — and, therefore, end — on time.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask. You can send an email to info@CPR-TwinCities.com or call us at (651) 699-3333.

We look forward to seeing you in class very soon.

No matter what changes I make to the code and no matter where I place that copy in the template, I get a message along the lines of this:

###

An error has occurred:
The following shortcodes were found in the “Main Content” field that ARE not valid: [FNAME],[event],[VENUE_ADDRESS],[GOOGLE_MAP_LINK],[DATETIME_START],[DATETIME_END]

###

I really have no idea what I’m doing wrong. Please help.

Hi, this isn’t working as certain shortcodes are used in specific areas. If you try to copy it as-is then it won’t accept those changes as it will detect an unsupported shortcode for an area and show and error.

I updated your registration messaging in your other support post with the correct shortcodes. You can copy and paste the information in:
