Does the EE4 App for Apple support the feature of adding a user that registers on site? We frequently have walk-in traffic and are hoping to integrate the features that the app provides for checking in our pre-registered attendees with something to capture the contact information for those who wish to register at the door, and be able to note their form of payment, assuming we cannot process payment directly with the app at this time. If the internal app does not support this option, can you suggest complementary apps for iPad/Apple that might integrate well for this purpose with EE4? We are hoping to streamline how we aggregate pre-registration and on-site student info while minimizing manual data entry & transfer.

Hi there,

The apps currently do not support adding registrations to events, they are used to scan tickets and check users in/out so you would add the attendee through a browser on the device (either on the front end of the site or through the admin).

As you are looking to take note of the payment, you will likely be better adding the registrations through the admin. I can provide more details on how you can do that, but I’m a little confused on this:

We are hoping to streamline how we aggregate pre-registration and on-site student info while minimizing manual data entry & transfer.

Can you provide more details on this as either way (through the app or browser) you will need to provide the attendee details?

Currently on site registration is done manually with pen and paper, using a third party payment software, so those two sets of data plus the registration export/check-in from the app are aggregated step by step after an event.

Using the admin to add on-site registration should be a good solution. I have added registrants manually via admin but have not accepted payments through admin, only through the payment processor (Paypal) in a separate broswer. Is there an option to process within EE admin? If not, I suppose I could process registration manually through the front end to then proceed directly into the payment screen.

Ah, ok I follow now thank you.

Currently, you can’t take payments through the admin but as you mentioned above you can use the front end of the site as if you were a ‘normal’ registrant.

Hi Tony,

I do not see an option to use a CC swiper for collecting payment when going through the front end of the site, so, I think we are back to square one for our needs. I am essentially trying to avoid my bookkeeper having to track information from two systems to get a complete total of students between pre-registered and walk-in. Yes, my staff can manually enter a CC through a browser on the iPad going through the front end of the class listing to process a walk-in student, but that considerably slows down the check-in process, not to mention some folks have expressed concern of allowing their credit card data to be manually entered through our iPad in the past. It seems the quickest, and most secure, solution is to use Event Espresso to check-in pre-registered students and use Square’s shopping cart to collect payment for walk-ins. That option, however, does not capture student information for walk-ins (Names, Emails, Phone), so I am looking at a three step process – EE export, Square payment data, and manual contact info – for our bookkeeper to aggregate the contact and financial info for one event into one set of data. If you are aware of any add-on or third party apps that might bridge one or more of these manual steps, please let me know.

Hi,

I’m not aware of any add-on or third party apps that would bridge this, but they are tracking interest in building a Square integration:

Your vote there will help tptb decide what to plan for the development pipeline.

In the meantime, one thing you can do to speed things up is use mobile Safari’s built-in card scanning. With many of the gateways, when you tap the credit card input, the keyboard in mobile safari will give you an option to scan the card with the built-in camera. Here’s a screenshot of what that looks like:
