Hello, We’re still using EE3 as we’re working through migrating to EE4 however we have a large site and it’s taking time due to customizations, etc. Noticing recently an issue where when we look at a attendee list of PAID attendees registered for an event the number will show (eg. 67/68) or (eg. 68/68) which would mean the event is full. However, when we export the attendee data it’ll show 72 or 73 registrants paid. Thus, for some reason it’s also keeping the event open for registrations versus knowing the event is full and showing it’s closed. Why would this occur suddenly? We haven’t seen this issue before and have been running EE3 since 2015. Thanks, Andreo |

September 20, 2022 at 10:29 am Hi there,
Is that actually happening? As in, can you still view the registration form for the event and register onto it? |

September 20, 2022 at 10:41 am Yes, that’s correct. Event remains open for registrations on front-end, plus in back-end the accurate number of registrations isn’t matching. This just recently started. |

Hmmm, odd, that’s not something I’ve seen before as far as I can remember. If there are ‘more’ registrations than there should be, has the ‘Attendee Limit’ limit been reached? Which payment method are you using? When you view the attendees in EE3 it will list all current attendees linked to that event which can then be filtered based on status. Whereas when you export the attendee list it will list them all regardless of status. I assume you are aware of this but have you confirmed that all registrations have a status of Complete? |

Hi, Yes, for the example shared … we had an event with 68 seats, however we have 71 registered/paid users. Some are admin additions, but majority are via front-end site registration. We are using Paypal Standard and Paypal Pro options. Yes, all users are marked as COMPLETED and paid. We remove the non-payment users from the master seminar total as we go as we get many who register but don’t finalized payment. Does this help? Andreo |

I can’t say for sure, but this stands out as a likely cause. I can’t say for sure, but… in EE4 we deprecated PayPal Standard because of how unreliable the IPN’s from PayPal can be. Some users didn’t run into issues whereas others were plagued by them. With PayPal Standard the payment is made and the user is redirected back to the sit but to confirm the payment EE must wait for the ‘IPN’ request to hit your site. The problem was that sometimes (not all the time, and not reliably reproducible) the IPN would takes minutes, hours and in some cases DAYS to hit the site. We don’t have any control over the IPN so it caused issues like this where the user would complete the registration but the payment wouldn’t actually complete until say the next day, in the meantime someone else (or multiple people) registered during that time… which may have been the last ticket(s). Are the last registrations fairly close? —- Actually if you are saying the registration form is still open now, then this can’t be the case, but then if they are all marked complete and the number of registrations >= the attendee limit the reg form should be closed…. is it not? |

Unfortunately, the fact that it hasn’t been an issue for you so far, doesn’t mean it wasn’t one waiting to happen. I’ll happily take a look over the event to see if anything stands out if you prefer? However, it’s important to note that I can’t promise any kind of fix currently. If you’d like for me to look over the event you can send temp login details using this form: |
