We set up some promotional codes and for all events other than one the codes are listed if you select the Allow Promo Codes option. Any ideas as to why none of the codes would display.

The only thing that displays is the following:

Add Promocodes:
No more promocodes available for selection

Manage Promotional Codes

Hi Michal,

Do you have the Roles and Permissions add-on active? If so, the Roles and Permissions add-on will separate the promocodes created each user account and give them access to their promo codes only.

If you’re not using the Roles and Permissions add-on’s features, you can deactivate it and the promocodes will be available for all events created by all user accounts.

We don’t have the Roles and Permissions set up or installed and the events were all set up by the administrator so not sure why for 20 events the promo codes display and for one it doesn’t.

Hi Michal,

If the administrator logs in with their account, does the promocode list display?

The promocode displays under the Manage promo admin but if you go to assign them they don’t display (for the one event). For the other events that we tried the promo codes all display (for the same login id which is an administrator role)

I double checked we have permissions set up but they only allow the admistrator to modify events. Our users can’t add or do anything on the site.

Users can register for events but they don’t have to be logged in or registered to use the site.

Can you try creating a promo code while logged in as the user who created that event? Does that promo code display in the event editor?

Ok I think that is the problem. The event in question was created by another user that has admin privileges. When I try to assign promo codes that I created under my admin account they aren’t accepted. I just tried to add the promo code to other events that the user created and again none show up. Are promo codes tied to a specific user id and not globally available? That makes it hard to update the system if you have two admins with different logins

Hi Michal,

Normally the promo codes are not restricted to a specific User ID. Plugins like the Roles and Permissions add-on will add the feature where it will restrict promo codes so that they can only be used by the user account that made them. If you deactivate the plugin that you are using to set up permissions, does it then allow you to access the other promo codes?

Yes that worked – I hadn’t realized that two admins had updated the events. So does deactivated the roles and permissions now mean that I can’t have multiple admins?

I am not sure I understand here – if the roles and permissions allows me to set up admins and give them permissions if the two admins are set up with exactly the same capabilities why then aren’t the promo codes that they create accessible to both – would seem that the user id is the determining factor in allowing promos and not the permission of the user. How then do multiple user ids with admin privilege entering lots of events share promo codes that are system wide?

You can still have multiple admins without the Roles and Permissions add-on.
