We have EE3 and are quite happy/comfortable with it. We also need to update our license, so now are wondering if there is any reason to move to EE4 instead of EE3?
In looking over the feature lists the only obvious thing from EE4 we are lacking is:
ticketless events
Then again, some of the things we currently use that are not listed as being in EE4 –
waiting list
promotional codes
Then too the question came up – will EE3 continue to be supported?
I would love to hear the thoughts and recommendations from those of you, especially if you have made a similar choice.
Hi Joan, I would continue to use the business support license for Event Espresso 3.
As a support license holder for Event Espresso 3, then you’ll receive equivalent add-ons automatically. For example, when the multiple event registration add-on is released, then that will be added to your account.
This process offers an upgrade path from Event Espresso 3 to Event Espresso 4.
Eventually we’ll discontinue Event Espresso 3 and focus on Event Espresso 4 but that won’t be happening for a while and we do plan on making a few announcements well in advance.
Thanks for the reply, was just wondering the same thing as an EE3 license holder. The waiting list is a MUST for my business, so please, please, please include it with EE4 before discontinuing EE3.
Our eventual plan is to make sure that at least the most popular features from EE3 make it into EE4.
A waitlist feature is definitely on the agenda, though there is no timescale for it as yet.
Promotional codes for EE4 are currently being worked on as we speak.
