Hi there
We use quickbooks for accounting and are hoping to find a better way than manually entry to introduce the revenue from EE into quickbooks. We are thinking about installing your “quickbooks payment gateway”. Would that record all payments into the quickbooks system? Since we are currently accepting payments online using authorize.net what do we have to do to make this work? Do we have to cancel authorize.net or do they work together?

Thanks . . . E.

Hi there,

Would that record all payments into the quickbooks system?

The Quickbooks payment add-on is a gateway that integrates with Quickbooks payments, payment made through that specific payment method would show up in your Quickbooks account but note that payments made via say Invoice within Event Espresso which you then manually updated, would not then transfer over to Quickbooks automatically.

However, I’m not sure if the integration method for QuickBooks payments will do what you are expecting here, can you add some more details? Possibly include a screenshot of what you are expecting to update in Quickbooks?

Since we are currently accepting payments online using authorize.net what do we have to do to make this work?

So you are currently using an auth.net payment method within Event Espresso, if you want all payments to do through Quickbooks you would de-active that payment method within EE so the only option on the site would be the ‘new’ Quickbooks payment method.

Does QuickBooks allow you to link up your own payment merchant to use with Quickbooks payments? If so you may be able to use Auth.net through Quickbooks, however, you would need to discuss that with Quickbooks as that would be an integration on their end.

Hi Tony
thank yo very much for your reply.
We are trying to find an easier way of entering revenue into the accounting system. Currently we have to manually enter ALL registration fees into quickbooks. An automated entry of the credit card purchases / payments would eliminate approx. 90% of the manual entries. Having to manually enter the few invoiced payments would be “a piece of cake” compared to what we need to do now.

I am worried about changing from one gateway to another one and losing functionality during the transition. Is it possible to have two active gateways during the transition and then cancel one after the new gateway has been successfully implemented?

Thanks . . . Erika.

Hi Erika!

Thanks for getting back to us!
In this case, we recommend you create a staging environment to set up the new gateway and then migrate to the live environment when everything is working fine; make sure to have the same data (event, users, etc.) on both domains. Your hosting company might be helpful in this case.

Cheers,
