Good Afternoon,

We were running EE Version 3.1.21.P and our web host upgraded us from PHP5.6 to PHP 7.2. This created a fatal error that took down our site. Here’s what we found:

[pid 6652] [client 66.162.212.19:63423] PHP Fatal error: Switch statements may only contain one default clause in /nas/content/live/callphx/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso.3.1.21.P/includes/shortcodes.php on line 1021

These were the steps we took to fix the problem:

1) Purchased a new license to Event Espresso.

2) Unfortunatly, when Event Espresso is activated in our website, it crashes the website.

3) So our webhost deactivate the EE plugin.

4) We added the new EE plugin, activated it, but none of our old data is in place.

How can we get the new EE plugin, which is compatible with PHP 7.2, and keep our old events, registrations etc.?

Best,
Matt

Hi Matt,

You’ll need the current version of Event Espresso 3, it appears you purchased EE4. You can go to your account page, switch the license type to an Event Espresso 3 license. Once you have the EE3 license you can download a copy of the current version of Event Espresso 3, then install that version on your site.

Please note: the later versions of Event Espresso 3 only show old events in the admin after selecting the filters to show old events. In other words, only upcoming events are shown by default when you load up the Events admin page, but you can change it so it shows old events too.

Thank you! I’ll give it a go.
