I’m trying to update to EE4. The calendar plugin was installed and activated just fine. But when I go to activate the core plugin, I get this message: EE_Error thrown
EE Level 2 Maintenance mode is active. That means EE cant run ANY database queries until the necessary migration scripts have run which will take EE out of maintenance mode level 2
What does this mean and what do I need to do? Thanks.
Try deactivating all Event Espresso software through WordPress admin –> Plugins.
Then reactivate Event Espresso. Then reactivate the calendar add-on. If it prompts you for maintenance mode, then continue to migrate your information to the current software.
Also, you should be running the latest software along with add-ons:
I’ve seen that I will need to migrate from EE3 to EE4 and that there are risks involved. I do have a backup of my site in case it needs to be restored. My only question, then, is what short codes would need to be fixed if the migration doesn’t work and I have to resort back to EE3? Thanks!
If you restore from the database backup, none will need fixing because the database restore will take care of restoring the EE3 shortcodes. If you don’t restore from a backup, the https://eventespresso.com/wiki/the-basic-settings/#page that make up the registration process will need to be manually changed back to have Event Espresso 3 shortcodes.
