Whenever I tried to update automatically to 4.4.2 tonight it caused the entire site (admin and front) to go completely blank/white. I renamed the EE plugin folder and WordPress deactivated the plugin and the site started working again. I manually downloaded the update and reactivated and the same thing happened. Any advise?

I did try deactivating all of the plugins and it still caused the blank site.

Hi,

I ran some tests and couldn’t duplicate this. Can you/have you turned on wp_debug? If so are there any error messages? Can you/have you checked your PHP error logs?

http://codex.wordpress.org/WP_DEBUG

If you have cPanel, error logs are usually stored at /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log

Thanks for the prompt reply. Here is the debug error message I get once the plugin is activated:

Hi Doug,

I’m sorry for the trouble. The issue you and a few others are seeing are from a file/folder permissions set up that we did not test for. I have temporary fix that can be applied to get you up and running until the next update is ready.

I can apply the fix to your site if you can send temporary FTP + WordPress admin level log in credentials via the secure form on this page:

https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

Josh, I only have SFTP enabled and that will be a little more difficult to get setup. I can give you the WordPress admin info easy enough. Would it be possible for you to work on the site through my computer with a screen sharing app like LogMeIn, join.me, etc?

Hi Doug,

It turns out the next update is ready. You can update by deleting the version you have installed right now, then download the one from your account page (it’s labeled Event Espresso 4.4.3.p), upload and activate.
