Best I can tell Salient doesn’t use an archive.php template. See the original post:

Hi there,
You can use a plugin such as What The File to see which template is in use for the current page you a viewing.
It the theme is using the standard template hierarchy it should be using archive.php or fall back to index.php
If you send us a copy of the theme we can take a look and let you know which template it’s using, you’ll need to upload the .zip somewhere and post a link to download it here (you can set your reply to private if preferred).
Note that we can not customize the theme/template files for you but can advise where you need to look so you can get started.
