Hi there, we are attempting to edit the events list page. It displays the date that the event was posted, but we would like to have the start – end date displayed of the actual event. Can this be changed by CSS?

If not, then we are having issues finding the correct PHP page to amend. We are looking for the archive.php and/or the index.php files but they are not in our Child theme (Enfold) folder.

The page we are looking at can be found here – http://test.onetribehealing.com.au/events/

Hi Mark,

CSS is for visual changes so you can’t use it to swap out the content for something else unless that content is on the page already (the start – end date isn’t). The date can be swapped out but you’ll need to use PHP within the template file to do it, which leads onto…

If not, then we are having issues finding the correct PHP page to amend. We are looking for the archive.php and/or the index.php files but they are not in our Child theme (Enfold) folder.

When using a child theme, WordPress first checks in the child theme for a specific template file and if it can’t find one there it looks in the parent theme, meaning you’ll need to copy the archive.php template from your parent theme into your child theme so that you can make changes to it there.

It’s been a while since I’ve looked at Enfold, can you send me a copy over so I can check the template used and make sure I’m giving your the right steps? If so you can send it to support[at]eventespresso.com, or include a link here we can use to download it (mark your reply private if preferred).

Usually you open up the Enfold parent theme and look for archive.php

Copy that to that child theme.

Rename the copy to archive-espresso_events.php so that the template is only used for EE events and then edit the template to include any details you need, but I can give you more specific instructions once I’ve had a look at the template itself.

Thanks Tony, I think we found the files. Tne Enfold theme creates another folder with your child theme in it and keeps an Enfold folder next to it with those PHP files (inclusing archive, functions, etc). I will let you know if we have any troubles.

although my guy doesn’t really know what to do. All I want to do is change the date on the Events List page which was teh date the event was posted to show the start and end dates. Are you able to guide us here?

Here is the events page – http://test.onetribehealing.com.au/events/

Can you let us know what file/s and which section and maybe what code to add the start and end date of the event in the events page please?

You can also can you send a copy of the Enfold template to support[at]eventespresso.com or include a link here we can use to download it. Then Tony can have a look at the template and give you more specific instructions.
