Hello

Members are receiving a registration confirmation via email when they register.

We tested the “Approve and Notify” option once registration had closed. The same registration email message was sent to a select few of members.

My question is can we separate email messages?

The first email confirms that the member is registered. Could we have a separate email message for the “Approve and Notify” that will be different from the default registration email?

Thank you!

Hi there,

It sounds like you are using EE differently than its expected to be used.

The first email confirms that the member is registered.

Can you explain this further please? EE doesn’t differentiate between a ‘member’ registering for the first or more times so I just want to make sure I follow what you are doing.

To answer your question:

Could we have a separate email message for the “Approve and Notify” that will be different from the default registration email?

Not without jumping through some hoops (setting a custom Registration Approved message on the event, triggering the emails for the ‘Approve and notify’ action, waiting for them to generate and then setting the reg approved template back to default for new registrations (if needed)).

But as mention it sounds like you are using EE differently than expected, it seems your approving registrations, then approved them again?

That’s right. We have 2 registrations approvals.

The first one is done by a user through submitting an event’s registration form.

The second one is done by an administrator after some internal process. We call it Lottery. Not every registered user has a guaranteed spot in an event. That’s why we need to notify selected users that they were approved to participate in an event. To do so, we would like to use a built in functionality and thought that Approve & Notify could work well for our needs if we could edit the content of that email.

Hope this makes sense.

Thank you!

I’m from the UK so securi is blocking me from viewing your site currently, but we have an option for this using the ‘Not Approved’ status.

You set the event itself to use a default registration status of ‘Not Approved’, when a user registers onto the event they’ll enter their details and see a page showing they are registered but not approved, they also receive an email (which you can change).

The admin the ‘Approves’ the registration and on doing so uses the ‘Approve and notify’ option, which triggers the registration approved message.

Will that not work for you?

Please do let us know if you have any questions on setting up the above.

As mentioned you ‘can’ use a custom Registration Approved message when the admin approves the registrations manually, but it’s a fair bit of messing around to get it to work. The above set up with using ‘Not Approved’ is a slight change in your registration process, but should help clear up any confusion for both the registrants and the admin.
