Hello. I’m using the custom message template to edit the Registration Approved notification. Right now, whenever anyone registers (individual OR a group) they all receive BOTH the notification for Registrant and Primary Registrant.
Is there a way to prevent this duplication from happening? It is very confusing.
Thanks.
Winnie

Hi there,

The Primary Registrant context on the Registration Approved message type, is disabled by default, so for it to have been enabled on your site something must have been set in the ‘To’ field.

Edit your custom message template on the Primary Registrant context, what is set on within the To field?

That specific context is only run once for the Primary Registrant object (of which there can only ever be 1 within a group, be it a group of 1 or 20, still just 1 registrant is the primary) so for all of the registrants to receive that context is very strange.

Hi Tony,
When I look at the Default Message Template for Registration Approved, it shows up in gray text, where as Admin and Registrant are in blue. When I click on “edit primary registrant” it shows that it is “active.” There is NOTHING written in the “To” field on the Default Message Template.
When I look at the custom message I have created for the Primary Registrant, I have [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT-EMAIL] in the “to” field because if I don’t have anything, it gives me an error message.
If you would like to look at the event and see the double emails, you can do that here: https://www.clicweb.org/events/grand-junction-clic-connect-in-person-rural-meetup/
There is a free test ticket already set up.
Thanks for looking at this.

On your custom message template is the green toggle set to ON or OFF for the primary registrant?

Do you want a primary registrant email enabled?

Note the message system is designed to send the Primary Registrant email as an additional email, meaning you would include additional details specifically for the primary registrant in that email but they will also receive the registrant email.

Thank you, looking.

Tony! We did it! Thanks to seeing how you tested it with 3 different email addresses, I figured out why it was so confusing. I was only ever testing with 1-2 email addresses, therefore the “primary” always also doubles as the “registrant.”

Yes, the green toggle is set to ON, and I do want it to stay as ON because we have many groups who register for multiple people at a time. It’s nice to know I can also turn off primary registrant as needed.

Thank you!
