Duplicate payments on Paypal

We’ve been getting quite a few customers that have been charged twice when they pay via paypal on EE. I’m currently on EE 3.1.37.7.P

Can you please advise what’s causing this?

Hi Samantha,

Are they actually getting redirected to PayPal’s website to make the payment or are you using the PayPal Pro gateway? If the latter, then they’re probably clicking on the Pay now button more than once. You can add a note to the page and warn them to only click the payment button once after they fill out the credit card information.

I believe they get redirected to Paypal. We use the Paypal Settings under Payment Settings on EE. I notice they are only seconds apart so I think what happens is that they hit the back button after the transaction goes thru without realising and then process it again.

You can also add a note there warning them to not hit the back button. I think they’d actually have to hit the back button then re-submit the payment form again on PayPal’s site to do that though.
