I know it used to be there because I’ve used it, but the DUPLICATE EVENT button seems to have disappeared. I have updated to 4.9.23.p but it wasn’t showing up in 4.9.xx before I updated either. Also turned off TinyMCE thinking that might be doing something to hide it, but no help. I can live without it, I guess, but seems like I paid for it so I should be able to use it – right?

Can you tell me what’s wrong here, or where I should be looking for the button?

Really wish you guys would allow attachments, so I could show you what I’m seeing. Wish you’d put some pictures in your support docs too.

Hi Michael,

The duplicate event button should only show when you’re editing an existing event. For example, it will not display if you’re starting with a new event that hasn’t been published or saved as a draft yet.

If you’re not seeing a Duplicate Event button on an Edit Event page, that may be the result of another WordPress plugin adding something to a hook that wipes out the Duplicate Event button. So you can check for a plugin conflict by temporarily disabling all other WP plugins.

As an aside, there actually are pictures (and embedded videos too) in the support docs. Here’s an example:

Ok…but turning off all plugins on a production site isn’t really an option, and the one obvious candidate – TinyMCE – didn’t do it. I looked in the raw HTML & can see what I believe is the code for the button there, so yes, you’re probably right – it’s a conflict with something else. I’m rapidly growing tired of troubleshooting yet another quirk with EE4 so I’ll just do the duplication the old fashioned way.

Hey Michael,

If you’d like help with troubleshooting, we’re here to help. A list of plugins that are activated on your production site will help us know where to look. Please understand that the Duplicate Button is normally there, but we generally don’t attempt to code around other plugins that are doing it wrong.

Sure, list below. However as I was making the list, I tried turning off some less-essential plugins one by one, and discovered that WP POST EXPIRES was the culprit in covering up your buttons. Seems odd because their content appears on a different part of the page – oh well.

You can file this away for future reference, or whatever you’d like. For practical purposes, my problem is solved, and you can call this closed.

It looks like that WP POST EXPIRES plugin throws a nasty JavaScript error on the Edit Event page. Here are a few alternative plugins that add similar functionality and don’t break Event Espresso:
