There really isn’t an ideal way to do this while you have live registrations open.
The ideal way to test is with a testing account with your merchant provider. You would enter those credentials in the gateway settings, then step through the registration process, through to payment without your card being charged.
You could turn on Maintenance Mode in Event Espresso, then change the payment settings to test credential, do your test, then set it back to normal.
I have (hopefully) set up a testing account with my merchant provider. I have turned on the maintenance mode in EE. I am a site administrator and should have access to run a test registration. However I do not. The maintenance message shows up!!!
Maintenance mode through Event Espresso locks down certain areas of Event Espresso. I wasn’t sure if you were aware so I wanted to bring that to your attention.
