Hello,

I can’t drag the tickets in order on an event Edit Mode. We need to drag the Event
DateTime and Available Ticket.

Thanks,

Cecile

Hi Cecile,

May I ask what happens when you click on the icon, hold the click, and move the ticket and/or datetime above or below its current position?

Hi Josh,

It wont drag. It only happened a couple of weeks ago.

If you mean it stopped working a couple weeks ago, then that could be the result of a plugin or theme conflict. If there were updates or changes to the theme or plugins on your site within a couple weeks ago, you could follow these steps to rule out a plugin conflict:

Install the Health Check plugin, then go to WP → Dashboard → Heath Check → Troubleshooting. There you’ll Enable Troubleshooting Mode, then once that’s activated you’ll reactivate Event Espresso only via the Health Check’s Troubleshooting item in the WP admin bar. At that point, can you check to see if the issue persists?

Hi Josh,

I mean we only noticed it a couple weeks ago. We tried dragging it but won’t do anything.

The first step to troubleshooting this will be to rule out a plugin/theme conflict.

Charlie

Hi Josh,
I installed the plugin and troubleshoot it.
I only enabled Events Espresso.

There is something odd I noticed.
First of all it still broken even with just the minimal theme and just the Event Espresso.

Second, the whole row icons and fields are not the working in the first place not only the drag. Its like all the icons froze.

The gear, copy and drag are not clickable. The fields with the date and time doesnt have the modal calendar like before.

The only thing that is clickable is the people icon where is goes to a page to “view registration”.

The most critical, when you add a “Add Datetime” it doesnt add anything.

I dont really know what happened. Do you think we can just load up a back up 2 weeks ago? Will this refresh whatever was done?

Thanks,

Cecile M

It sounds like maybe your web browser has JavaScript disabled. Can you try logging into the site with a different web browser (e.g Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari)

Hello Josh,

We tried Safari, Chrome and IE. Nothing.
Can you check out the problem?

Hi Cecile,

I’m afraid the FTP information you sent is apparently incorrect, so I could not FTP in to the server. One thing I did find is the site has a very old version of Event Espresso 4.9. It may help to update to the current version of Event Espresso 4.9, but it appears that one-click plugin updates are disabled for your site. Does the website admin have plugin updates deactivated, can they be enabled?

Hi I just sent ftp and wordpress credentials again.

You should probably update to the current version of Event Espresso 4 first. That may resolve the issue for you.

Charlie

There is no indication to update it Josh. In the Plugins section it looks updated. Is there a way I can force it to update?

Yes, like I mentioned earlier, it appears that one-click plugin updates are disabled for your site. Does the website administrator have plugin updates deactivated, can you check with them if they be enabled?

Hi Josh,

Im an administrator and I also gave you that administrator rights as well.
There is no one-click plugin on this site.

Hi,

Someone, (maybe you?), added this code to the site’s wp-config.php file:

/**
 * Turn off automatic updates since these are managed upstream.
 */
define('AUTOMATIC_UPDATER_DISABLED', true);

So that’s why there are no one-click updates available. If you can remove that code, make a backup of the site, then you’ll be able to run the updates.

Hi Joshua,

No I didn’t do this but I will update the wp-config.php.
I’ll update the plugin once it is available.

Thanks,
– Cecile

Your other alternative is download the current version of Event Espresso 4 from your account page, then follow these steps:

1) Make a backup of your site’s files & database
2) Go to your WP Dashboard Plugins page and deactivate and delete the older version of Event Espresso (you will not lose data because Event Espresso does not run uninstall scripts when you deactivate & delete the plugin)
3) Upload the new plugin zip file to your site via Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add New.
4) Activate the plugin.

Hi Josh,

Event espresso is now 4.9.31 from 4.6
Everything is back to normal.

Did someone from your team upgraded it?

It works now.

Thank you,

Cecile M

No we did not update it, and 4.9.31 is actually an older version. The current version of EE4 is 4.9.67.

Hi Josh,

I will deactivate it and upgrade it tonight. I tried modifying the web.config but you can’t still upgrade it.

For some reason its back to normal.

I’ll let you know if there any problem arises tonight.

Thanks,

Cecile M

Hi Josh,

Can you give me assistance on which plugin to delete? There are two event espresso I am mixed up.

Event Espresso and Event Espresso – WP Users (EE4.6+).

I went to check in to browse the plugin Event Espresso and the search results have multiple Event Espresso.

I haven’t deleted it yet I’ll wait for your response. Thanks,

Cecile

Event Espresso is the core plugin. The WP Users plugin is an add-on.

Hi Josh,

I backed up, I installed the Event Espresso 4 Decaf. The old Event espresso and the new Event Espresso 4 Decal seems two different plugins.

I didn’t delete and deactivated the old one and activated the new since Im afraid it’ll mess up the site.

Can you give me assistance on this? It might create conflict.

Thanks,

Cecile

I tried modifying the web.config but you can’t still upgrade it.

So your running WP and EE on a windows server then?

I backed up, I installed the Event Espresso 4 Decaf.

May I ask, why did you install Decaf?

Decaf is basically a stripped down version of regular, it’s the ‘free’ version of Event Espresso, as you have a license with access to the full version you want the regular version.

Go to Dashboard -> Plugins.

Find Event Espresso Decaf and delete it (sounds like its not activated right now, but if it is, de-activate it and delete it, you can’t have both EE and EE Decaf activated at the same time, it will cause an error).

Then in the plugins menu again, de-activate Event Espresso regular, it will look like this – http://take.ms/OOJwG (obviously your version number will be different).

Then again, delete that version.

Then follow steps 3 and 4 that Josh posted above to install EE regular, you can download the regular version from your account page.

I’m going to go ahead and remove decaf, and install the current version. However, please note that it’s not feasible for EE support staff to go in and do the update for you each time there’s an update. Someone on your end needs to be responsible for your website and will need to maintain things and keep the software up to date.

For the sake of thoroughness in case there’s something misleading in anything written here or elsewhere, can you explain why you installed Decaf, instead of downloading the regular version from your account page?

Hi Josh,

I normally maintain the site but because your plugin doesn’t have a way to update it I need this assistance. Its unusual for a plugin not to have an update right in the admin site.

I installed and started Events Espresso on this site couple years ago. Since then it was working properly until lately. I modified the web.config but your plugin still doesn’t have the “update” in the plugins section.

I went ahead to search for “Event Espresso” in the Search. I installed Event Espresso 4 Decaf. Please let me know if that incorrect. I don’t see other Event Espresso in the search unless I have to download the latest from your site.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Cecile M

Hi,

Your active WP theme, “driveme”, has some code in its functions.php file that deactivated all plugin updates. So up until 30 minutes ago, none of your plugins had a way to do updates. Specifically, this code:

remove_action('load-update-core.php', 'wp_update_plugins');
add_filter('pre_site_transient_update_plugins', '__return_null');

I went ahead and commented out that code so now you can update your site’s plugins. The Event Espresso plugins have been updated, but you’ll need to update the other ones that have updates available.

Charlie

Hi Josh,

I didn’t thought of other plugins will cause the plugin issue. Anyway, the Event Espresso’s functionality came back even before the Update which is odd.

Thank you for finding this out now, we can update Event Espresso the usual way.

Thanks,

Cecile M

It’s actually code from inside the theme’s functions.php file. Other plugins did not cause the issue. I’ve checked with the theme author to see if they have an explanation, but so far no helpful response:

Hi Josh,

I’ll find out with the theme.
I’ll take it from here

Thanks for your help.
