WordPress Version 3.7. Event Espresso 3.1. Which I tried to upload into my plugin and I got the message “The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.” What does this mean?

HI Margarette,

How are you today?

Did you try uploading the event-espresso.zip file that you downloaded from your account page here on EventEspresso.com? We’ll help you get this figured out.

The .zip file you download from EventEspresso.com should be about 4.4mb.

I just tried reinstalling Event Espresso on a fresh WordPress site and it installed normally as expected. I’d recommend downloading the file again and make sure it’s about the right size. If this happens again we’ll have to try and find out what might be causing the conflict on your website but I hope it’s just that you didn’t get the file downloaded fully.

I down loaded the plugin with no errors, bit it did not show in either the plugin area or on the left side. I signed-out, but cannot now sign back in.

Hi Margarette,

Can you let us know the website address where you are trying to sign in is and what error messages (if any) are displaying when you try to sign in?

I am actually surprised that you do not have better tutorial for your plugin. I did find through FTP that a file did upload…file called updates. I removed it, but I still cannot sign in through wordpress.

If I purchase the $5 per month membership, is there tutorial videos. On line the product was given high marks as far as performance, but lower for useability. Better instructions might be helpful.

Hi Margarette,

What would you like a tutorial on and we’ll see what we can do? We’ve held off doing too many tutorials because EE4 is coming soon.

No. I still cannot sign in to wp. As stated aboveA file uploaded named upgrade which had Espresso files. I removed it through FTP but I still can’t login to wp. I sent lost password. changed it and it let me login then when I logged out and tried to log in. I looks for it give no message and erases the password area. I really need to git this done.

Margaret,

Event Espresso will not lock you out of your site. That is why you still aren’t able to log in when you removed the plugin. Do you have a security plugin installed? Try to rule out any plugin conflicts. Deactivate all non Event Espresso plugins and test to see if the issue is still occurring. If it is not, then we know it is a problem with another plugin. You can then find out which plugin it is by reactivating each plugin individually and testing to see if the problem starts happening after the activation. When it occurs after activating a plugin, then we know this is the culprit.

Everything was working until I uploaded Event espresso. I can’t get in to the wp side of the site to deactivate anything. After loading Event Espresso didn’t give me an option to activate, it just loaded the files. It blinked and that was all that appeared to happen. When i couldn’t login. I checked files through FTP and an updates folder with EE was in my WPcontent folder. I removed it. but still cant get in.

I am receiving e-mails telling me to post to forum. Please read the entries that have been made above. I don’t know why what happened, happened; I just know what happened. I am probaly going to upload a fresh wordpress and then upload WP Content again and see if that will fix my problem.

Hi,

If you have FTP access, can you log in and see if there is an event-espresso folder in the wp-content/plugins folder? This is where it should install to.

If so you can rename it to something like _event-espresso. This should disable event espresso in the admin.

If that doesn’t work you can try completely disabling ALL plugins by renaming the plugins folder to something like _plugins. Please note that this is a drastic measure and until the plugins folder is renamed back or another one is created you will NOT be able to install plugins.

” an updates folder with EE was in my WPcontent folder” Can you explain further? What was the folder called and what was the path (a path is like wp-content/plugins/event-espresso)

I have uploaded a new wp and am ready to try again. I re-read instructions. I downloaded the Event Espresso V3.1.364P file. It downloaded AS Event Espresso (NO letters or NUMBERS) Am I down loading the wrong file?

Hi,

That’s correct, the zip file does not contain the version number its just plain event-espresso.
