I don’t want to collect the email address of non-primary attendees. Only first name, last name and birthdate.
But I can’t edit the default question group (personal information). I can’t make the field for email address not required.
So I created a new question group with fields for firstname (fname2), lastname (lname2) and birthdate and assigned this new question group to the other attendees.
Now the names for further attendees are always the first and last name of the primary attendee. For example:
John Smith wants to register himself and his wife. In his confirmation email his name appears twice for each ticket. The name of his wife is not displayed anywhere.
1.)
Is there a better solution to not collect the emails of furhter attendees?
2.)
How can I modify the attendee list to display the correct names of non-primary attendees? Not only in the emails, also in the backend.
(I already posted this question, but with with wrong account)
The minimum information that Event Espresso needs for a registration is a first name and an email address.
By registration, I mean an entry within the registrations overview screen and then also having that information appear within the registrations CSV report.
You could collect that information without the email by creating a custom question group with custom questions (spouse first name, spouse last name). However, this would not appear in the areas that I mentioned above.
Okay, but what if I want to provide tickets for adults and children (different prices)? We usually don’t expect children to have email addresses.
That’s the reason why I tried to avoid the email field.
Unfortunately, you can’t remove the email field if you would like a registrant/attendee to be shown in the list of registrants.
There is a way to add some help messaging to the registration form. You could use that to clarify what parents should enter for the emails for the additional registrants.
yes, why not. They can just enter the same email address. I will not sent any email notification to attendees other than primary attendee (blank “to” field in email notification), so I don’t need to care what they enter as email address. As long as they enter something that appears to be an email address.
