I get this message in the dashboard of the new site (same wp network) and am curious what it means:
Your support license key is only valid for one domain at a time, and our licensing system has detected that you are using your license key on multiple domains. Please log in to your Event Espresso account to manage your Support License Keys, or if you have concerns, please Contact Us.
Examining the database it appears there is a new set of EE tables that are created per new site instance. Does this mean that events are handled on a per-site basis?
That doesn’t mean Event Espresso does not work with it, but we don’t officially support it.

Each of the site swill ping out license server and as licenses are valid for a single site it flags up and shows the above message.

That’s how WordPress sets up sites within Multi-Site, each site is effectively a separate site but all share one set of installed files. Which means…
Does this mean that events are handled on a per-site basis?
Yes, the events are separated on a per-site basis.
EE events are a custom post type (actually a hybrid as we have out own tables too) so they work in the same way WordPress standard posts on a core level.
