My theme default has a sidebar on it the event slug defaulted to a page with a sidebar. Per the instructions under event espresso–general settings–critical pages–event list, I created a page http://www.couplesinstepretreats.com/event-list/ with the shortcode [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] and changed the event slug from http://www.couplesinstepretreats.com/events/ to http://www.couplesinstepretreats.com/event-list/. I also added the page http://www.couplesinstepretreats.com/event-list/ to the navigation menu (changing the navigation label to “Register Now!”) Did all the proper saves along the way… and ended up with a 404 in the front end when I navigate to the register now page. (Because I need my registration to stay live, I changed everything back) Help! |

Hi Irene, I followed the links that you shared and I did not see a 404 error. Did you browse to WP-admin –> Settings –> Permalinks after making changes? — |
|
That’s because I changed everything back…as I didn’t want to mess with people being able to register and wasn’t quite sure how long it would take for you (or someone) to get to this. So just now I changed the event slug to http://www.couplesinstepretreats.com/event-list/. Check now. Thanks for your help. |

Hi, that also works as well as the slug is now event-list instead of events. If you change the slug, then be sure to browse to WP-admin –> Settings –> Permalinks. — |
|
Thanks for your attention to this. 2 things: 1) Follow this path: 2)when I go to the wp admin–settings–permalinks….. what do I change there? (It’s been a long time since I changed permalink settings, when I did, I did it via the Yoast SEO plug in, and when I just now went to try that, I see that Yoast has changed things around so that I don’t know where/how to change permalinks via that plug in anymore). |

Hi, I understand what is happening and this isn’t related to permalinks. You created custom links to the events listing page which at the time was /events/. Now you have changed it to /events-list/. You would need to update any old links on your site. Another option is to use a free plugin like Redirection to setup a redirect from the old page to the new one. — |

My site is hosted by WPEngine. I did the redirect via their user portal… I don’t get the 404 message anymore but I have the same problem I started out with. My events are displayed this way. http://www.couplesinstepretreats.com/event-list/ I want my events displayed without the right side bar… In my pages directory there is a page with the short code [ESPRESSO_EVENTS]. That doesn’t seem to do it. I thing the event slug is set up correctly. What’s next please? |

Hi Irene, I understand what you are trying to do but we wanted to get those pages working again before looking at the styling question that you mentioned. This will require some work with custom templates so I’m discussing this with Tony and a member of our team will follow up with you shortly regarding your support token. — |
