As I understand the Promotions Plug-In it is only possible to use discounts for an entire event and not down to the ticket level. I have a need to only apply a discount code for certain tickets in an event, not all of them. It appears this option might be available in EE3 but not EE4 and there is an open request to add the functionality to EE4. Any work arounds for EE4 or a timeline when this might be added?

Hi there,

I’m afraid that discounts per ticket was not something that was available in EE3.

Now depending on the type of discount you’re offering, you can discount per ticket. For example if it’s not a promo code triggered discount, you can add a price modifier to a specific and the discount will automatically be applied to that ticket’s price.

If it is a promo code triggered discount, the workaround for EE4 is to split the specific tickets that you want to allow Promo codes into their own event(s).

You are invited to vote for and leave a comment on the Trello card where we’re tracking this feature request:

Incredibly frustrating that this feature is not offered as every other platform I have used such as Eventbright, Active, Runsignup, One million revolutions, etc all have the ability to have discount codes by ticket. Having an event with different classes and prices of tickets is not something that is unusual at all.

And the workaround is ridiculous, creating different events so that someone buying different tickets to the same event has to pay and submit their info twice is something that would confuse and frustrate the customer.

Voting for something? How about just say this is something we are looking at and a potential time of implementation rather than have your customer register at yet another site. The whole process seems really Mickey Mouse.

I’m sorry you think the process of asking for people to vote on their favorite feature is Mickey Mouse.

Well I think it is Josh, which is why I said it. Registering at another site not associated with your core product is Mickey Mouse. Rather than being passive aggressive with a fake apology why don’t you say you disagree, because you are obviously not sorry as you think it is the correct way to do things. The attitude is frustrating.

That feature has been requested for almost a year a

Thanks for the feedback. We’ll take it into consideration as we build new features into the project.

If this feature is important to you, I would suggest sponsoring this feature so it can be added to our little project faster. Here’s some information about sponsoring (and our philosophy): https://eventespresso.com/about/philosophy/#sponsored-development

I don’t disagree with your sentiment, which is why I apologized. It’d be better if we could build our own Trello board system in house, then we wouldn’t be sending folks off to a 3rd party site. It’s a means to an end though, and I think you and I can both agree that if we shifted our development team priorities to build a Trello board system, it would take away resources and time from building features for Event Espresso (like ticket scope for promotions).

Forgot to mention. The project is also on Github.com, so if you want, you can hire a developer to create a discount system that works for your needs:

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
