I’m just starting to use the promo codes for this season. I noticed that I now have to create several Events if I want to control the use of promo codes…? I can’t launch our site without promo codes for each ticket type and it doesn’t make any sense to treat Events as Tickets.
Do you have an estimated time frame on when you’ll be extending the promo codes to individual Ticket Types?
We do not currently have an ETA for when promotion/discount codes can be applied per ticket.
When you say you want to control promo codes, you can currently set which events a code applies to, the number of uses that promo code cand be used, and if the code is exclusive or not. (Exclusive meaning if that code is used no other promo can be applied to the cart)
Can I ask what kind of promotions are you looking to use?
We create one ticket type under an event under a category…
We then discount that ticket type based on when they register with a discount code.
I now have to create one ticket per event or a discount code can be applied to every ticket in that event… I’d much rather create one event per event and contain ALL my tickets under that event.
I can see some advantages in doing it this way since I can use more short codes. But how does that effect scanning in a ticket? Do we have to be in THAT event for the scanning to find them?
The way the ticket scanner add-on works is you first select an event, then a datetime (if there is more than one datetime for that event). Then you can scan tickets for that event. This prevents anyone with a ticket for a different event from gaining unauthorized access to other events.
