Yesterday I was “duplicating” classes to use as templates for additional upcoming classes (an exercise I’ve been doing for years now, without any problems). Somehow in the process, two of the classes I duplicated have disappeared from sight. Luckily I have the emails produced when the students signed up for these classes, but I can’t find any sign of them in “Event Overview.” I’ve tried adjusting the parameters of what I can see (including “deleted” events, in case I had inadvertently dumped them by accident). I’ve looked at the upcoming classes created from those earlier duplicated classes to see if I simply changed dates, but forgot to duplicate first, but the students are not listed there. And I’ve done a search by name (using live search filter) and there’s no sign of these students anywhere. Can you think of anywhere else I should be looking?

Hello,

The Event overview shows a status of ongoing/active by default. The duplicated events may have been set to another status.

I see that you looked through the deleted status but what about the other statuses?

Yes, I’ve been looking at “ALL (Active/Inactive),” too.

Hi John,

If you have more than 50, 100, or even 500 events, then the query that loads the events will not load all of them all at once depending on what’s set next to the Retrieve button. There’s a retrieve all option that you can try by selecting “All” then hit “Retrieve”.

Thanks, Josh, but they still don’t show up. There are events before, as well as after, the missing ones. It just doesn’t make any sense, as it looks like I’m looking at everything.

Are they appearing on the front end of the site (the event list page or single event pages)?

When you say “event list page or single event pages,” Lorenzo, what do you mean? There’s no category like that in the EE3 navigation. Or do you mean on my website, itself? What I can tell you is that the identical classes are showing up on dates before and after this particular date, in Event Overview as well as on my website.

Hi John,

Are you currently using the Recurring Events Manager Add-on? and are these events a part of a recurring series?

What I think Lorenzo is asking is if the events are viewable from the front end of the site even though they are not within the Event Overview within the Admin?

Thanks, Tony. Non, I don’t use that add-on. I manually go to an existing class, click duplicate, then go to the duplicated class and change dates.

If “front end” means my website, then the answer is no. The classes are not showing up on my website. One of them is full, but should still be showing up as “closed.”

I just checked and found that the registrants are showing up in the Attendee Reports. That’s good news, so I know the class is still somewhere in the system.

If you go to Event Espresso -> Event Overview.

Look at the ‘filters’ that are set above the Events. Dy default they will look like this http://take.ms/dt7zR

Set the retrieve amount to All, then set the the ‘Status’ filter to each of the calls, retrieving the events between and then checking if the event appears within the event overview at all before checking the next stauts. (be sure for each step that retrieve is still set to All)

It sounds as if you may have already ran through these steps, but just wanted to be sure.

Generally speaking EE will not permanently delete your events, they are ‘soft deleted’ which means they are marked as deleted and ignored.

SOLVED! I went back to look at the Attendee Report to look at the class date and discovered that it was listed as June 14, rather than June 28. So, what I must have done was not just change the Registration End date when the class filled up, but also change the Event Start Date and Event End Date. I kept looking for it where it belonged, and it just wasn’t there.

First time this has happened in a couple of years of doing the same mindless job. Turns out, it still takes a mind to keep from making an operator error. My fault! But thank you for your support.

Nice thinking using the attendee report!

I’m glad you found it, its always the ‘simple’ mistakes that are the hardest to find 🙂

I’ll mark this thread resolved. Please just open up another if you have any further issues.
