Hello, We run a couple of sites with Event Espresso. One of our sites runs with MemberPress i.e. it is enforced that only members are allowed to register for an event. Recently, we made a shift and started allowing non-members to register for an event as well. However, with that we also found out that EE creates a user in WordPress upon registration for an Event. This is a problem for us as a Membership cannot be offered if a WordPress user account already exists before signing up for a membership. Is there a way to take registrations without letting EE create a user in WordPress? TIA |
Hi there, That’s a feature of the WP user integration add-on and there is a setting within each individual event for it. Edit the event in question and then look in the side bar, you should see a ‘User integration settings’ meta box, like this: https://monosnap.com/file/IFbTNf0PvDicO7ZY2Q8ujSh6KwdJtq Set the ‘Auto Create users with registrations?’ option to No and save. That event will stop creating user accounts from registrations on that event. — We also have a section where you can set the ‘default’ option for that setting when you create new events (changing this setting will NOT update all of your current events). Event Espresso -> Registration Form -> User Integration Settings. Set ‘Default setting for User Creation on Registration.’ to No and save. Any new events you create from that point on will have the ‘event specific’ setting I mentioned above set to No by default. |

Hi Tony, Thank you for the explanation. This is just the thing we are looking for. However, we tried implementing this in our staging environment and it didn’t work as expected. We have an existing event for which we set these settings to “No” as you explained. The global settings are also set to “No”. But the user account is still getting created. Any ideas why this might be happening? |

Tony, Kindly treat our case as urgent as this feature is determining for us. It is not working properly i.e. still creating users both in staging and prod for our sites. Thanks |
Are you using LearnDash? Can you link me to the event? (you can mark your reply private so only EE staff can view it) |

It’s not so much a clash but yes, it will be from LearnDash if you are using the EE4 integration add-on they have. Their Event Espresso Integration creates users from all registrations regardless of the above option. I assume your EE events have courses assigned to at least some of them? |

Yes all EE events are linked to courses. |
So there’s 2 issues there then. 1. The LearnDash add-on generate WP User accounts from all registrations, regardless of weather or not the event has a LearnDash course assigned to it. The reason they require an account is so they associate the course with the user that purchased it. 2. If all of your EE events have courses assigned to them, and the LearnDash add-on requires an account for the purchase. How are you going to allow for registrations without accounts? |

You can mark this topic as resolved now since we got to know why the add-on was not working correctly. After deactivating the learndash EE add-on things worked fine. We will be getting rid of Learndash so that is not a problem for us anymore. Thank you for your prompt replies! |
You’re most welcome, glad I could help. |
