It turns out my client would like to have the option of enabling/disabling event registration on an individual event basis as sometimes the venue would like to handle the process. Is there a simple way of doing this?

Hi there,
You can use the ‘Display Ticket Selector’ option within each individual events registration options, this section – http://take.ms/vDYz6
If the ticket selector is not shown for an event you can not register onto that event.
You could also set the ‘Alternative registration page’ as the external URL for the event (if applicable), that way when users click to view the event they will be directed to the venues site to register.
