Is there a short-code switch to disable ical links?
Or…
– short-code switch?
– creative CSS that does a Claude Rains (or more like Martian Manhunter I guess)?
– or edit a template somewhere (like this: https://eventespresso.com/topic/customizing-event-pages/#post-176682)

Recommendations?

Hi there,

There’s no option on the shortcode to disable it, but may I ask, do you want the iCal to be removed from everywhere EE normally outputs it on the site or only on the output for ESPRESSO_EVENTS?

You can remove it from everywhere using a function like this:

You can add that to a custom functions plugin on your site, we have some documentation on creating one here:

Well, here are our goals (and thanks for asking)…

We wish to have arbitrary control ideally. But in particular, we want to have a menu for all our courses with the simplest, most straightforward and bare bones interface possible.

I think multiple “pages” or “screens” is OK if you can eliminate scrolling throughout. For our present situation however, I think the best option is:

– a list of all future events with an add to cart button (it’s a one student but multiple events per transaction type deal with us.)

iCal and Google Maps links are awesome (underused and underappreciated) options in my opinion. I’d just like control over where they popup. I’d put mine in an email or on the confirmation page. Anything that distracts or delays the user from the purchase is a potential bad Tuesday in Spring.

I have already ghosted the calendar components using simple CSS (no vis, no display). I’m sad there’s no standard approach but I can monkey wrench the function stuff. It’s like telepathy. It’s real neat if you have control of it. And if you don’t, well…yikes. It’s almost better if it’s just not there.

At this point I think my best solution is a toggle that hides or reveals all the ical links to “unhide” them on demand. Thanks just the same. Hope my feedback helps and you’re not taking any of this personally. I blame beer.
