Hello,

I want to create two different events with two different currencies. I know thats not currently supported in Event Espresso. I have come up with an idea. Please let me know whether this idea is implementable or not.

My Idea:

In the event page where we show the tickets we can hardcode the php template and put currency according to event ID. Like, if for event ID 543, the desired currency is USD and for event ID 542, desired currency is BDT, I can hardcode it in the php page. Please tell me how this can be done.

Thanks.

Hi there,

What you are asking for can be done, however, to support multiple currencies you’ll need to do a lot more than simply change the display on the event output and the above is probably the simplest part of what needs to be done so if you don’t know how to do that you’ll very likely need the help of a developer.

EE creates transaction and payment objects that are linked to the registrations for an event, those all use the currency set within EE, so will be incorrect and you’ll need custom code to hook in and change that.

If you are using an online payment method to take payments, again that payment method will use the currency set within EE, changing which payment method it is sending will need to be stored and used for the EE accounting otherwise it will use USD and none of have that functionality has been built into EE yet.

In short, there are no quick and easy fixes to allow you to support multiple currencies at this time.

Thanks Tony. Basically currently we dont need any payment gateway as we are using the Bank transfer method and simply providing our registrants the information to pay to the bank. So, basically as off now, we are very much occupied with the different currencies issue. Can you please tell me which files to look at for the required changes? that would be really helpful.

Thanks.

Hello,

To implement Different currency for the same event, what I have found (I have read many posts regarding this issue in your forum)

1) I have to create multisite for my wordpress installation. (site1.mycurrentsite.com, site2.mycurrentsite.com)
2) I have to install eventespresso separately on those different installations

Is this the correct procedure?

Now my question is:
1) What kind of license do I need to use eventespresso in my subdomain site(site1 & site2)?
2) Can I get the registrations in the same place from those subdomain/subdirectories?

Hi there,

I should prefix this reply with there is no ‘correct’ procedure for multiple currencies within EE as we currently do not support multiple currencies.

Splitting the events onto multiple sites using multisite is a workaround some users have used to allow them to take registrations in multiple currencies as each site can then have a different currency set.

Now my question is:
1) What kind of license do I need to use eventespresso in my subdomain site(site1 & site2)?

You’ll need a license key for each individual site you want support for, as mentioned above, using multisite to support multiple currencies is more of a workaround so we don’t have a license type specifically for this.

2) Can I get the registrations in the same place from those subdomain/subdirectories?

You meaning pulling all of the registrations from the network into a single site and displaying them on Event Espresso -> Registrations?

If so that’s not something EE will currently do, it might be possible with custom development but I don’t think it will be easy to do.
