Hi,

We plan to setup a site on a development server to build and test it before moving it to its final domain name.

I noticed somewhere it mentioned not to activate the EE license otherwise you won’t be able to use it on the actual site?

Can you let me know what you suggest regarding setting up on a development server and if we don’t activate the license what does this mean in terms of functionality / restrictions?

Will be we able to build and test on the development server then move the site to the final domain and then activate the license?

Thanks,

Elaine

Hi Elaine,

That is a good question. Some plugins will stop working entirely if your key / credentials are not entered.

Event Espresso does not work like that.

You can use the software without entering a support license key and we do recommend activating the support license key on your live site.

If you will be developing the site on a staging / development site for an extended period of time, then you could activate the support license key there and then request a release from your account page.

This will make it available for use on another site.
