Hi – I need to delete some test registrations. I was going to follow this https://eventespresso.com/topic/bulk-delete-of-transactions-in-ee4/ for deleting transactions with payments. I have some transactions without an associated payment or registration. Their status is marked ‘Incomplete’. Can I delete these transactions or will this cause an error? I also have some ‘free tickets’ that I need to delete. Can I simply delete these transactions? Thank you |
Hi Terri, There isn’t actually a delete button in the user interface for deleting a transaction. You actually delete the associated registrations. |

Ok, I might not be using the correct terminology. I need to delete some registrations with payments. Can I follow these instructions for removing the payments and then the registrations: For those who are searching how to do this, filter registrations to give the event you want to delete the registrations from. You can see that most have a little lock symbol underneath their ID number. For each of them.. Click on the shopping cart symbol to the right of their details – this gets you to their transaction Click on the trash can / bin symbol on the left hand column of the Payment Details area. Click the delete button on the confirmation box that appears (and consider that the only good bit about all this is that ‘send related messages’ isn’t selected by default) Click the browser’s back button (or you’ll lose the filtering) Optionally click the browser’s refresh button, or it will still show as locked. Repeat all this a thousand – or how ever many you have – times. You can now trash those registrations, and then go to the trash and permanently delete them. Thank you |
Yes, those are the correct steps. You remove the payments from within the transaction, then remove the registrations. |

Thank you. I also need to remove old events from the database. Do I first have to remove payments, then registrations and then the event or can I just delete the event? |
The user interface will allow you to trash the event (where it will stay in the database in the trash bin) without removing registrations. If you need to completely remove the event you will need to first remove all registrations. The reason for this is because a registration must be connected to an event. |

Thanks again. I just wanted to be make sure before I start deleting events and registrations. |
