I removed the short code of dates/times on the email template for the primary registrant, but the “copy of registration” email still contains them. They are confusing to our registrants. Is there a way to remove them? Thank you. |

Hi there, By “copy of registration” email do you mean the email sent to each individual registrant? If so, then yes, you remove the shortcodes from the ‘Registrant’ context. Go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message Templates -> Registration Approved -> Edit Registrant. Remove the shortcodes from that section. If that’s not the correct section can you forward the email in question to support[at]eventespresso.com so I can see it? |

Thank you, Tony. I removed the short code just now from Default Message Templates, but I’m using Custom Templates. I had already removed the code from all the custom templates. Will removing it from the Default Template now solve the problem? |
|
Not if you using custom templates, no. Are you using the Multi Event Registration add-on? |
|
No. I don’t have that add-on. |
|
Then unless you have an event that doesn’t have the custom template set on it, defaults shouldn’t be used. Can you forward the email over so I can confirm which email it is? |
|
Thank you. Yes, I just forwarded it to your support address. Actually, the email has a number of errors on it that I hadn’t noticed before, but I don’t know where it exists to edit it. Your help would be greatly appreciated. |

Ok, so that is indeed the ‘Registration Approved’ message type. Something that catches users out is the fact that message types have ‘contexts’ and each of those can be edited independently. You mentioned you’ve changes those but if your Default message template has been ‘fixed’ along with your custom template, the most likely cause of this is editing the wrong context. So when you edit the ‘Registration Approved’ message type, it has 3 contexts which are Event Admin, Primary Registrant and Registrant. Each of those contexts can be edited independently from the other. It’s still part of the Registration Approved template but the details you send to the Event Admin are usually different from what you want to send to say, the Registrant, so editing each context allows for that. You can find some details on editing message contexts here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/messages-system-working-with-message-contexts/ If you are already editing this correct, then my apologies, but just making sure you are aware of how they work. The contents of that email show me it’s the ‘Registrant’ context of the Registration Approved message type. I can’t tell if thats the default or your edited version as I don’t know what changes you’ve made, so I’ll tell you how to edit the specific template used on the event in question (it’s a little long winded but the best way to know for sure). You haven’t posted an links to the specific event in question, or you site, so I wont post those either. You need to edit the specific event in question for that email. Go to Event Espresso -> Events, find the event in question and click to edit it. In the notifications section, you have a custom message template selected for Registration Approved, correct? Click on the Edit button on the Registration Approved line. That will edit the currently selected template but by default it opens up the ‘Event Admin’ context. Select the ‘Registrant’ context in the dropdown at the top of the page and click ‘Switch Recipient’. Now you editing the Registrant context of whatever template is set on the event. Does that section have the shortcodes for dates/times? |

Tony, thank you immensely. I did all that with “Primary Registrant” but not with “Registrant.” I’ll go in and do that and see what happens. Thank you again! |

You’re most welcome, please do let me know if you run into more issues. |
