I have a meeting next year in Hawaii. My site is setup for Mountain Time Zone. In the DateTime offset area for EE I have an offset of -10. When I enter my times for the start date and time for ticket sales is that time be based on the site’s timezone or the offset time?

Hi,

The time will always be based on the site’s timezone.

The offset is part of a utility that can be used for offsetting the times of all datetime-related data on a site in case of a mistake. For example, consider a site that was originally set to use the UTC timezone, events were added, then the timezone setting was changed to Denver. This would change all datetimes for all events to offset by 6 hours. The offset tool can be used to correct all the incorrect times in one go.

Okay, so sounds like I should set the timezone for the site to Hawaii’s UTC time and then leave the offset to 0. Correct?

You’d actually set the site’s Timezone setting to Honolulu. We do not recommend setting to UTC timezone offsets.

The offset tool setting isn’t really an option that you set to. So unless you need to bulk change existing events times, you can ignore that page.

Copy that. Thanks!
