My site will not stay up now because of database errors. At one point, it said that the tables had become corrupt but seemed to allow me to fix it. This has been going on now for a day. I keep calling my host to put the site back up and it keeps going down. They suggest I move the wp chron to a linux chron. How will this affect EE? (Using 4, just upgraded to latest version.)

Hi there,

Do you mean the wp_cron? If so I wouldn’t recommend deactivating the wp_cron unless you know how to replace it with an alternative. Event Espresso, other plugins, and WordPress itself all use wp_cron to run tasks on a schedule. The Event Espresso tasks that run from wp_cron include sending email messages after registrations, cleaning up abandoned transactions, and checking for plugin updates.

One thing that may help is you can install the WP-Crontol plugin and view the scheduled crons, and check to see if any of the crons listed there could be taxing the database server.
