We are looking at setting up EE3 on a GoDaddy hosted domain, using PayPal Standard onsite payment as the gateway. Please confirm that the customer data will be stored on the server in the client’s hosting account, but not the credit card information (I assume this is stored with PayPal but promised the client I would ask). Also, is the customer data encrypted. Finally, the client really wants to use GoDaddy, what problems might we expect?

Hi Elizabeth,

No financial information is stored for PayPal Standard transactions. A transaction number is generated and that is used to match up the transaction that is recorded to Event Espresso with the client’s PayPal account.

Also, I want to mention that PayPal Standard is an offsite payment method so the actual payment process occurs over on a secure PayPal server.

Did you have a specific question about using Godaddy as your webhost?

Sorry, we intend to use PayPal Advanced for on-site check out. Is the financial data still stored at PayPal?

Where is the customer’s contact information and email address stored? Is this information encrypted?

I do not have a specific question regarding GoDaddy, however my client is very loyal to GoDaddy and I am concerned because the website says this “Please be aware that Event Espresso (as well as most other plugins) may not function properly when used on Godaddy,”

Thanks!

Hello again,

No financial information is recorded within Event Espresso. A transaction id which is typically an alphanumeric value is created for reference.

The customer’s contact information along with email address is stored in the database. To view this information, you would need to have an existing WordPress admin login for a site or direct access to the database.

You can use Godaddy with Event Espresso. Be sure to request a Linux/Apache based server.
